Post Harvest Handling and Storage
FaidaMaLi seeks to ensure farmers understand the importance of the quality of the grains/yields this includes; cleaning, grain colour, END use of storage pesticides, ensure crops are dry enough before storage to avoid high levels of aflatoxins especially in maize. it is in this light farmers are introduced to new and safe ways for storage of grains like the use of hermetic bags and tarpulins during the process of drying, grading and packaging of grains, use of pallets to allow handling and storage efficiencies, and storage areas management such as warehouse/aggregation centers. All these not only ensure sustainable markets but also food safety/security.
