Climate Smart Agriculture Project (CSAP) Sorghum Value Chain in (Bahi, Chamwino, Kondoa, Kongwa, and Mpwapwa Distrcts, Dodoma Region
Project Goal
The project is focusing on building a more replicable, resilient and sustainable value chain model of interventions that can attract more investment and be commercialized and scaled.
Project Objectives
To improve availability of climate-smart agricultural services and products to increase productivity and income and adapt and mitigate the negative effects of climate change
To increase access to households and community storage infrastructure to reduce postharvest losses by (40%) and improve quality of crops harvested
To increase gender equality (50%-50%) and youth participation in decision making, equal access to resources and inputs, knowledge, financial services, markets and opportunities for value chain addition and no farm employment
To promote innovative assistance for adaptive programming to expand market opportunities and scale up effective support from the government and development partners
Project Achievements
- 2,000 SHF’s were reached
- 10MT of Sorghum seed were loaned to SHF’s
- 10 Extension Government Officers and 28 Lead Farmers were trained on GAP as TOT’s
- 1,975 SHF’s were trained on GAP
