Project Title

Capacity building of extension workers on integrated soil fertility Management (ISFM)

Project goal:

The project aimed at improving the capacity of    extension workers to deliver knowledge on integrated  soil fertility  management (ISFM) practices to smallholder farmers.

Program objective:

Building the capacity of extension trainees in integrated soil health management practices based on modular outreach training system.

Disseminating integrated soil fertility management practices information to small holder farmers through innovative and interactive ICT-based approaches (radio, mobile phones).

Linking farmers/farmer organizations on farm input and output markets (agro-dealers and buyers) through ICT-based market information services.

Geographical coverage;
Mbeya Rural, Kilolo, Kilosa, Njombe DC, Njombe town     and  Mbarali Districts.

Number of direct beneficiaries:

24,000 (15,000 Me and 9,000 Fe) Smallholder farmers and Extension workers and Smallholder farmers

Duration of the project:

3 Years (2011 to 2014)
